INKT is part of the Ultrakort programme and will screen in all Dutch Vue Cinemas soon, as a short in front of the main screening.

 

Behind the scenes!
This how the film looks from a different angle. We have made our film 'INKT' in Stereoscopic 3D so you can watch it with 3D glasses. Therefore we needed to make the 2D artwork and animation in a 3D environment like a virtual diorama. Most of the 2D animaton of the squid is made by me.

 The Chinese restaurant is empty. Mister Ping is gone. The exotic bird’s cage stands wide open. No one knows what happened.
Two friends, Jason and Kevin, see this as a great opportunity to catch the birds and sell them for a great amount of money.
But catching the birds ain’t as simple as it seems…

Heinz

Recently I joined the animation team at KaChing-Cartoons in Rotterdam for the feature 'Heinz'. The red city cat, Heinz, is a happy kind of loser with a short fuse. He is born and raised in Amsterdam. One day he wakes up in a strange bed in a fairytale forest. No idea how he got there, but everyone is raging at him, and his son suddenly has disappeared.  A desperate search, chased by a growing army of crazy ones, leads from its many local pubs along the Flemish Zurkelt route,  to a mysterious tropical island and the diabolical alien Bag.
During a spectacular confrontation in New York,  Heinz manage to mess up his plan to eradicate humanity and instead save his son. On a broomstick, the fly back to home together. Just in time before his favorite pub closes.
Based on the famous strip Heinz by René Windig and Eddie Jon, published in Het Parool.

Etgar Keret 'based on a true story'

In his extremely short stories, the Israeli writer Etgar Keret plays an impressive game with fantasy and reality. The story of his life, too, sounds like a modern fairy tale. In this hybrid documentary Stephane Kaas and Rutger Lemm investigate why telling lies is essential to Keret’s survival. Nina Gantz and I worked together on de animated stories in the film. Animation direction, backgrounds and some animation shots are done by me. Below you can watch the trailer.

Dutch Animated short PARADE by Digna van der Put off to the Oscars® 

Short animated film PARADE directed by Digna van der Put, has been selected by an independent committee of Dutch film professionals for Oscar® submission in the Animated Short Film category.

Jury Statement: "PARADE provides a timely but also timeless look at the parades of life and world history. The style and technique connect seamlessly with the theme. The viewer innocently joins the cheerful rhythm and ultimately experiences what parades can stand for. "

PARADE had its world premiere at the London International Animation Festival, last December. After that, the film was selected for several leading international festivals, such as the Brussels Short Film Festival (Belgium), Annecy International Animated Film Festival (France) and the Melbourne International Animation Festival (Australia). In autumn the film will be screened at Filmets Badalona Film Festival (Spain) and the Anima Mundi Festival (Brazil).

In PARADE six fanfare flute players explore the landscape of the uniform. A journey that does not go unscathed.

Digna van der Put (1980) is an independent filmmaker, with her studio based in Rotterdam (the Netherlands).She began her career as an art teacher but decided to specialize in animation. In 2009 she graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy with the animated short SQUIRREL & ELEPHANT. After that she worked on major projects such as the animation feature films PIM & POM - The Great Adventure (2013) and HEINZ and URBANUS (2014).
 
PARADE is produced by Ton Crone from the Netherlands Institute for Animation Film - NIAf. The film was realized with financial support of the Netherlands Film Fund.

EYE International organizes the Dutch short film selections, the qualifying run of PARADE in Los Angeles and oversees its submission to the Academy. On 24 January 2017 the Academy will announce the nominees in all categories, including those for Animated Short Film. The Oscars® will be presented on February 26, 2017.

De animatie van Patty, het jaren '20 rubberhose-karakter is af! Het was erg leuk om te doen.
De 'Nu of Nooit' van Ka-Ching Cartoons: TEX gaat op woensdag 19 oktober op Cinekid in première .

Pettenpret

Sam verzamelt hoeden. Hij krijgt die opgestuurd van over de hele wereld. Elke keer als hij een hoed, pet, helm of hoofddeksel opzet, beleeft hij er een prachtig avontuur mee. De verhalen worden voorgelezen door Kasper van Kooten en veelal onderbroken door de kleine Suze die op schoot zit. Daardoor nemen de verhalen leuke gekke wendingen en krijgen ze een verrassende ontknoping.

TEX Patty test

De korte animatiefilm TEX is geselecteerd voor de 4e lichting van Nu of Nooit! Animatie.
De 25 minuten durende film 'TEX' wordt een combinatie van animatie en live action. Marc Veerkamp en Tingue Dongelmans zijn verantwoordelijk voor het scenario en Albert Jan van Rees voor de regie van het live action gedeelte.
TEX wordt geproduceerd door Ka-Ching Cartoons in samenwerking met de VPRO, het Mediafonds en het Filmfonds. BosBros is de co-producent van dit project, en zal het live-action gedeelte voor zijn rekening nemen.

De film zal voor het eerst vertoond worden op het Cinekid festival 2016, en is in de kerstvakantie 2016 op televisie te zien bij ZAPP.

VSB FONDS

Druk maar op de knop!

Op een muur van 6 x 4 meter in de entreeruimte van het VSB kantoor te Utrecht wordt een 2D animatiefilm geprojecteerd die de uiteenlopende projecten vertegenwoordigd die het VSB fonds sponsort. Kunst, cultuur en samenleving staan hierbij centraal. Hanneke van der Linden (Hanimatie.nl) heeft in opdracht van Xpex een storyboard gemaakt en mij erbij gevraagd om een deel van de film te animeren. (akker t/m het klappende omaatje)

Heinz The Movie in 3ADHD

The grumpy scrounger Heinz from Amsterdam, star of the happily insane comic books of Windig & De Jong, saves the world from disaster while searching for his baby cat. This is achieved with extreme reluctance and with more luck than judgement.
The new Heinz trailer is almost finished and part of the animation comes from my hand!
